Hello there, I used to work with Wamp (wampserver.com) it basically installs the complete package, all you need to develop applications in php and mysql. I was wondering, is there some kind of alternative similar to wamp I could use on Ubuntu? Or should I install everything separately? If I install it, will it screw anything up? I'm about a week into Ubuntu so I'm just getting the hang of things. I really like it but I'm looking to replace everything I had on windows. Like the original poster stated, I too use Joomla and like to develop it locally. WAMP is an abbreviation for Windows Apache Mysql PHP, where LAMP is as you now may guess: Linux Apache Mysql PHP. So yes, if you install LAMP under Ubuntu you have the same functionality as with WAMP. I installed the Xampp (which apparently is the new name for LAMP) and it seems awesome for developing websites locally. My question is, is there a way to launch it from a shortcut or something? Right now, I have to open terminal, type /opt/lampp/lampp start to get it running. Also, stopping it, is a pain. In windows, it put an Icon in the systray. I would click it, it would launch the application. Dar, după ani de nuanţe de gri şi pătrat apariţia diferitelor versiuni clasice de Windows şi cinci ani de la gama de măsline-albastru-argintiu Windows XP, lucruri plictisit. De aceea este bine pentru a vedea Microsoft să furnizeze noi gratuit o nouă temă, cu scuza de a promova Zune. Îmi place noul "look", deoarece textul din barele de titlu la ferestre, este de culoare albă pe fond negru, ceea ce le face uşor de citit. Nu atât cu butoane pentru a minimiza şi a restabili, aşa cum au contur negru şi devine dificil să se distingă. În loc de butonul de închidere, în roşu, este foarte vizibil. Tema constă dintr-o serie de negru si gri cu accente de metal portocaliu (în stilul de unele modele de Sony Ericsson sau Ubuntu), butonul de pornire pentru acea culoare poate fi destul de placut, am crezut că nu-mi place mult. Cum era de aşteptat aceste culori, în final, au nici un impact major asupra productivităţii şi a mea este bine ca o schimbare a aspectului, dar nu distrag atenţia. Am găsit ceva ironic, este faptul că, chiar fiind stocate pe serverele Microsoft (a verifica link-ul), nu există site-ul oficial, prin poştă sau stiri de pe site-uri sau Microsoft Zune.
